Today, Artificial Intelligence is a very popular topic that is widely discussed between technology experts and in business circles. Many professionals and industry specialists argue that AI is the future, but if we look around, many of us will be convinced that it’s not the future — it is the present.

Before we go deep into the topic let’s just discuss Artificial Intelligence and what it is?

Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are programmed to think like humans and mimic their actions

Artificial intelligence is a trained program that powers up computers and machines and gives them problem-solving and decision-making capabilities just like the human mind are capable of.

A simple way to explain- program to give brain to a machine but the big question is “Will the human brain ever be replaced by a computer?”

Theoretically, it seems possible that sometime in near future there may be a computer that is capable of replicating the memory feats and computing skills of a human brain.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the branch of computer sciences that emphasizes the development of intelligent machines, thinking and working like humans. For example, speech recognition, problem-solving, learning, and planning.

With the progression in technology, we are already connected to AI in one way or the other — whether it is Siri, Watson, or Alexa. Yes, the technology is in its preliminary phase and more & more companies are investing resources in machine learning, signifying a robust growth in AI products and apps soon.

How does AI impact human society?

People globally offer mixed views of the impact of artificial intelligence on society. there will be positive and negative impacts on society as artificial intelligence continues to transform the world, we live in. As an optimist, I believe the changes will mostly be good but could be challenging for some. Here are some of the challenges that might be faced as well as several of the positive impacts artificial intelligence will have on society

Artificial intelligence will certainly cause our workforce to develop. The overstated captions emphasize the loss of jobs to machines, but the real challenge is for humans to find their passion with new tasks that require their distinctively human abilities.

The impact of artificial intelligence on our society will have economic, legal, political, and regulatory implications that we need to be converse and prepare for.

Will machines become super-intelligent and will humans in due course lose control?

While there is a discussion about how probable this situation will be. But we do know that there are always unexpected significances whenever new technology is introduced. And these kinds of unplanned outcomes of artificial intelligence will possibly challenge all of us.

Alternatively, AI may not become so expert at doing the job that is designed to do that it crosses over ethical or legal boundaries. While the original intent and goal of the AI are to benefit humanity, if it chooses to go about achieving the desired goal in a destructive (yet efficient way) it would negatively impact society. The AI systems must be built to align with the principal goals of humans.

Artificial intelligence algorithms are power-driven by data. As more and more data are collected about every single minute of every person’s day, our privacy gets compromised. If trades and governments decide to make choices based on the intellect they gather about you like China is doing with its social credit system, it could transfer into social oppression.

Positive Impacts of Artificial Intelligence on Society

As with most life changes, there will be positive and negative impacts on society as artificial intelligence continues to transform the world we live in. How that will balance out is anyone’s guess and up for much debate and for many people to contemplate. As an optimist at heart, I believe the changes will mostly be good but could be challenging for some. Here are some of the challenges that might be faced (and we should be thinking about how to address them now) as well as several of the positive impacts artificial intelligence will have on society

Artificial intelligence can dramatically improve the productivities of our workplaces and can enhance the work that humans can do. When AI takes over tedious or hazardous tasks, it frees up the human workforce to do work they are better equipped for. If people are doing work that is more appealing to them, it could increase joy and job satisfaction.

With better monitoring and diagnostic capabilities, artificial intelligence can dramatically influence healthcare. By improving the processes of healthcare facilities and medical organizations, AI can reduce operating costs and save money. The true impact will be in the care of patients. Potential for personalized treatment plans and drug rules as well as provide better access to information across medical facilities to help patients.

Our society will gain countless hours of productivity with just the introduction of self-sufficient transportation and AI influencing our traffic bottleneck issues and it will improve on-job productivity. Freed up from traumatic travels.

Uncover criminal events and solve crimes will be enhanced with the help of artificial intelligence. Facial recognition technology is becoming just as common as fingerprints. The use of AI in the justice system also presents many opportunities to figure out how to effectively use the technology without crossing an individual’s privacy.

Unless you choose to live remotely and never plan to interact with the modern world, your life will be suggestively impacted by artificial intelligence.
